Becks In Training

David Beckham is BACK - in training.
The England midfielder is set to turn out for AC Milan after the Italian winter break, and has joined them for his first training session in Dubai.
It’s great to see Beckham back on this side of the Atlantic not wearing and England shirt, and his determination to get back into the national squad is in sharp contrast to that of Michael Owen.
Of course both players previously took turns warming the bench at Real Madrid, and each has seen his career take a vastly different path since those days under one Fabio Capello.
Whatever is said about David Beckham, he made a decision about his career and what he could offer to the game at large and followed it through, joining LA Galaxy almost at the expense of his England career.
Michael Owen meanwhile joined Newcastle United. Was that really the best one of England’s finest strikers could do? Who is giving Owen advise? It baffles me, and a lot of England fans that Owen languishes with perennial underachievers Newcastle United and gets dropped from the England team - and unlike Beckham makes no real attempt to get back into contention.
Massive kudos to Beckham for getting a winter break in Milan (and by extension Dubai), and best of luck to him for getting back into international sharpness and the competitive England squad.
