Kinnear to See Out Season

Newcastle United manager Joe Kinnear is set to be offered a new contract that will take him through to the end of the season.

Not a massive surprise really, especially with the alleged American investors pulling out of “talks” with the camera-shy Mike Ashley.

I’m not going to put my head on the line and say out and out, once and for all that there is no interest in Newcastle United.

Yet what interest there has been has suffered from the typical Geordie malaise - they just can’t help but talk things up to make themselves look good, when in fact they’re a rickety ship who this season got lucky with Kinnear being the only manager with top-flight experience interested in taking the job.

As recently as securing a 0-0 with Chelsea, Kinnear has steadied the the boat at St James’ Park.  It’s no great leap of faith to imagine Mike Ashley would want to keep hold of him.

The games have to stop though.  If Newcastle United were as big as they claim to be, these investment groups and other interested parties would happily reveal themselves.
